The Monastery of Saint Neophytos was founded in the late 12th century by the Cypriot hermit Neophytos. He carved a secluded cell in a cave, which later became part of the monastery complex. Today, the monastery is an important religious and cultural landmark, attracting tourists with its ancient architecture and Byzantine-era frescoes.
The renovation of the traditional goods shop for tourists visiting the Monastery of Saint Neophytos in Cyprus focused on creating an authentic space that would seamlessly fit into the cultural and spiritual atmosphere of the monastery while remaining appealing to tourists.
In the renovation, a natural palette of materials, including wood and stone, was used to emphasize authenticity and harmony with the monastery environment. These materials create a cozy and natural atmosphere, attracting visitors after their tour of the monastery.
The interior design embraced minimalism, placing emphasis on the products themselves without overwhelming the space with unnecessary elements. This ensures that each product gains attention, remaining the focal point for visitors.
A key design feature is the living wall, which adds natural accents and highlights the connection to nature and the monastery grounds. It brings a sense of freshness to the space and reinforces the harmony with the surrounding environment.
Arched doorways and smooth transitions between different areas of the shop create soft flows, enhancing the sense of tradition and tranquility, making the interior unique and memorable for tourists.
